October Survey Total

October 31st, 2007 at 11:03 pm

Quick recap for anyone new - I'm a family practice doctor and I regularly have the opportunity to do online medical surveys. These can take anywhere from 10 or 15 minutes to an hour to complete. Some are fairly simple. Others are pretty involved and tedious. But they do pay well. I used to ignore most of the invitations I got and several months ago, decided to start doing every one I possibly could.

For the month of October, I earned $585.00 doing these surveys. That beat last month by $5 and brings the total since June first to $2,099.25.

So, Steve, are you allocating them to any one purpose?
Throwing them into the general fund? Your daughter's college fund or a fun fund?

Holy Mackeral! That's a nice chunk of change from answering surveys--a far cry from the $60 or so that I've earned from doing them this year! When I get to complete surveys for professional reasons, recompense is generally an entry in a drawing (that I have yet to win)--but then I'm a mere academic and the only people who make money off of what I have to say are textbook authors (who do pay $200-300 for a book review, but that involves at least a full day's work).

My English Castle - Other than our retirement accounts and a 529 plan for our daughter, we don't generally allocate certain money for certain things. We don't keep a car account or a vacation account or a home repair account. All the money gets lumped together to be spent as needed. To me, a dollar is a dollar. Doesn't matter where it came from.

It's funny how we all approach things differently. I really like things, especially fun things like a vacation account, separated out. It helps me figure out the essentials from the possibles. I'm that way with everything though--I need things in certain piles, sections, containers, etc.

Speaking of possibles, I could use some help with Orlando vacation rentals. When my "possible" account gets a little bigger, I'll ask for some advice for you.

Always happy to help folks plan their Orlando trips. I just now checked in to a wonderful 2-bed, 2-bath timeshare unit in Kissimee about 30 minutes ago. We're here for the week. $40/night.
