March ebay totals

March 31st, 2007 at 11:02 pm

Our last auction of the month ended today. We sold 5 items for a total of $108.48. Not bad at all since we did it very casually and made no serious effort at all.

I was a little disappointed with today's auction since there were 7 watchers and it ended with only 1 bid. I was hoping a few of those watchers would be competing at the end and boost the price.

Of course, I know from experience that with a little effort, we can do far better. My best month ever on ebay I took in nearly $3,000. I've been training DW how to do ebay and a couple of the sales were hers, so she's getting the hang of it. I'm sure we'll gradually ramp up the number of items we post. I'm going to set a goal of $200 in sales for April, nearly double this month. That should give us something to shoot for and still be easy to accomplish.

I've never bought or sold anything on eBay.
Will you explain what you mean when you say '...we did it very casually and made no serious effort at all' and '...with a little effort we can do far better.'
    Thanks.

daylily - When I say we made no serious effort, I mean that 2 or 3 times during the month, one of us came across something in the house while cleaning and said, why don't we put this on ebay. Or my wife reminded me that I promised to teach her how to do ebay and when we had some free time, we went upstairs and listed an item. We only listed 6 items all month (1 didn't sell). Back when I was doing ebay seriously, I listed 10 items a day, 7 days a week. That was anything but casual.

So when I say that with a little effort, we could do better, I mean that if we really got serious about it and planned ebay time into our weekly schedule, we could list a lot more items and make a lot more money.

Okay. I thought you meant that there was something special that you could do within eBay to attract buyers to your product.
I do browse eBay; I just haven't made a purchase although I do plenty of other online shopping.
