Ebay update 2/7

February 7th, 2009 at 07:21 pm

I sold 2 copies of a book on Half.com yesterday for $7.49 each, so that adds another $14.98 to my February sales total which stands at $136.61.

No action yet on this week's ebay auctions but I'm not expecting much this time around. I put some items on that probably won't spark much interest. I'll be happy if one or two sell.

With ebay CEO, John Donahoe, implementing policies geared toward banning the small sellers and pushing for mega companies with millions of the same tired, bulk made junk you can buy cheaper, elsewhere, I sure wouldn't expect much from ebay except high bills and massive headaches. Don't forget that ebay owns Paypal and is now forcing the majority of it's users to use Paypal ONLY...along with that, PLEASE check your Paypal user agreement which now allows Paypal, at it's "sole discretion" to withhpold users funds for up to 180 days!

To see what ebayers are now experiencing, search the internet for "Ebay Stockholders and Sellers Calling For Immediate Termination of John Donohoe CEO Petition" at petitiononline. Employees' veiws of ebay's horrendous upper management can be veiwed by going to glassdoor (dotcom).

gordonK, what kinds of things do you think they are they doing to discourage small sellers? As for requiring PayPal, I fully support that move. I think taking checks and money orders is very outdated and the risk of fraud is way too high. I've accepted only PayPal for the past couple of years, long before they required it.

I had 4 auctions end yesterday morning. I only thought 2 were going to go, then at the last minute all 4 went. That puts me at a little over $77 for February including a couple of books I sold on Amazon. I have a few more auctions ending on Friday so we'll see. I feel a little silly-I accidently listed 2 books too low-after shipping I lost 1.30 on one and broke even on another. Oops! lesson learned.

Ok, so I did something else stupid. I mailed a package before the ebay buyer paid for it. Anyone else do that? It's a good thing I have a real job! I'm not sure I could make a living doing this!
