I "found" $1,384.12 last night!

I got my bank statement yesterday and sat down last night to balance the checkbook. I got 2 nice surprises when I did.

First, on 9/17, our NJ Homestead Rebate (or whatever they call it now) was direct deposited. That was $956.93.

Second, I neglected to record my wife's 9/27 paycheck. That was $427.19.

So a total of $1,384.12 turned up that wasn't previously accounted for. What a nice way to start the weekend.

    That is awesome. I balanced my checkbook last night, and I thought I had $100 more than I did. I did find the error though. It was my fault, but dang, I am $100 less than I thought I had. So, good for you.

    It's like when you reach into a purse you haven't used in awhile and discover $20!

    But obviously on a much bigger scale. Congrats on finding that money!

    We got our NJ property tax rebate last month.
    And like you said, until it was actually there, I didn't count on it being there.
    Our rebate ended up being about $1,353.
    Of course, we'll end up using the rebate (and a little more) to pay the quarterly property taxes in November. But we already had that allocated even if we didn't get the rebate.
