1st Roth Contribution of 2009

I sent $710 to Vanguard yesterday toward my 2009 Roth contribution. I send money every 2 weeks (from each paycheck), alternating between my account and my wife's account, until they are both maxed for the year, usually around the end of June. Only $9,290 to go.

    Ours are scheduled for next week. We pay ours once a month...until the end of the year!

    Good for you DS, I made my first contribution today as well...nothing close to yours ($25) but I'm glad I contribute to an IRA because you never know

    Can you clarify something for me? I opened my IRA at the end of March of 2008. The contributions I'm making in 2009, do they count for 2008 or 2009? Thanks!

    NJDebbie, it could be either one. You have until April 15, 2009 to make your 2008 contribution. If you have not yet put in the max for 2008, you should direct current contributions to 2008. I've already maxed for 2008 so new money going in is going toward 2009.

    I made mine yesterday just $50. But it is going towards 2008 contributions.
