Got my COVID vaccine today!

December 19th, 2020 at 01:11 am

I was fortunate to get the first dose (of two) of my COVID vaccine today. Dose two is in 3 weeks so January 8.

I see COVID patients every day at work so this will certainly make me more comfortable about the potential exposure I face every day. Certainly, I will still take all precautions and wear my PPE at work and my mask outside of work, but at least I know I'm far less likely to get ill if I do get exposed to the virus.

Steve, if you don't mind my asking, and I understand if you don't want to answer, but did you experience any side effects? So many are concerned about reactions. Thank you.

So far, no. It’s been about 7 hours. My arm is a tiny bit sore to touch but otherwise I’m fine. I believe side effects are more a day or two after, and more so with the 2nd dose as you have a greater immune response then. Of course, the side effects are simply a sign that the vaccine is working and your body is responding exactly as it should.

I hope it doesn't have huge side effects, but do keep us advised as you go along the whole process. The ones I am dealing with from my flu shot are obnoxious with my overactive immune system. I guess I don't have to worry though, until it is available to the general population.

Wow, that's great to hear, Steve. Keep us posted!

Glad you were able to get it given your frequency of contact with COVID patients! Also interested to hear if you have any reaction.

I’m getting my first dose in less than 2 hours! Second dose set for January 9th.
